E-phemera…Portrait masks from a celebrity culture.

Written by david kemp. Posted in The Blog

Sometimes, friends bring me bags of bits they have collected for me .

I like to imagine that the contents of each bag might contain all the components of a new identity which I may discover,as I reconstruct them ?

We are in the age of mis-information technology, & are increasingly assimulating more & more information in digitilised form,as it flickers through the circuits of our electronic gadgetry.

Inevitably, both the components ,& some of  the e-phemera that has flowed through them,  seem to leave traces in the new artefact ?

In retrospect, I sometimes catch glimpses of past stories, news, people & events, snatches of the”zeitgeist” that seem to have perculated through  the assembly process.

The series of  masks that I have been reconstructing over the last year, might be desribed as ” Portrait masks from a celebrity culture”
